  New partnerships with institutions in Russia and India

The BPC has celebrated an agremeent of cooperation with the IAS (Institute for African Studies, Russian Academy of Science). According to the document, both institutions will develop common research agendas, as well as exchange information and publications. The agreement also allows for the creation of new programs.

The BRICS Policy Center has established a cooperation agreement with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), from New Delhi, India. The partnership aims at strengthening cooperation in mutual research on the BRICS.

In the colloquium "Indian Information Technology (IT) Workers, Global Migration and Post-Colonial Development", Dr. Banerjee had the opportunity to share the results of her research project on the large-scale recruitment by the U.S of Indian workers in the area of Information Technology (IT), during the 1990’s.

At the colloquium "Understanding Russia", the BPC’s Fellow Dr. Victoria Panova (Russia), exchanged her experience on research sources on Russian politics, economics and culture, and offered the audience with a list of high-qualified institutions that produce relevant work and deep knowledge about the country.

  Upcoming Events

BPC at the Atlantic Dialogues, Marrocos.

Professors João Pontes Nogueira and Paulo Esteves are attending the "The Atlantic Dialogues", in Rabat, from September 28th to September 30th. In the event, officials from public and the private sector, scholars and journalists will dabete inter-regional issues ranging from economy to security.



Professor Carlos Teixeira, Parsons The New School for Design, visits BPC.

Professor Carlos Teixeira, from Parsons The New School for Design, paid a courtesy visit to the BPC.  During the meeting with BPC representatives, Professor Teixeira underlined the growing importance of the field of strategic design in the BRICS countries. In that sense, future exchanges of knowledge and information between the researchers of both institutions were also evaluated.

Meeting with Dr. Ling (The New School).

Professor Fabiano Mielniczuk, Research Coordinator at BPC, met with the Indian fellow Dr. Banerjee and Dr. Ling, professor of International Affairs at The New School in New York. During the meeting, they talked about the role of the BRICS in the international order, as well as the importance of learning the history of these countries in order to deconstruct stereotypes commonly accepted in the western world.

Meeting with  Dr. Fan Gang, from the National Economic Research Institute of China.

On July 24th, the BPC welcomed Professor Fan Gang, Director of the National Economic Research Institute and General Secretary of the China Reform Foundation. Professors Fabiano Mielniczuk, Research Coordinator at BPC, and Cunca Bocayuva, coordinator of the Urban Development and Sustainability research group, also attended the meeting, in which the participants exchanged views on relevant economic issues between China and the BRICS.
